Cold-region fieldwork notes

About

These are working notes, kept mostly for my own benefit. I spend time in cold places and I find that writing an observation down forces me to check whether I actually understand it. Often I do not, and the note becomes a reason to go and read properly.

The subjects are whatever I happened to be looking at: snow structure, river and sea ice, frozen ground, mountain weather, and the plants and animals that deal with all of it. Nothing here is original research. Where I state a mechanism I have tried to get it right, and where I am unsure I have tried to say so rather than smoothing it over.

There is no comment section and no mailing list. The notes are updated when there is something worth adding, which is not on a schedule.
